“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Most Zoroastrians expects their anjomans to provide them with unlimited resources and opportunities. However, Anjomans, nowadays with very limited funds and manpower, cannot and should not do such. Instead, they should functions as platforms empowering youth and entrepreneurial networks to create value and innovation.
A platform is a business model that creates value by facilitating exchanges between two or more interdependent groups, usually consumers and producers. In order to make these exchanges happen, platforms harness and create large, scalable networks of users and resources that can be accessed on demand. Platforms create communities and markets with network effects that allow users to interact and transact.
Like Facebook, Uber, or Alibaba, these businesses don’t directly create and control inventory via a supply chain the way linear businesses do. Platforms don’t, to use a common phrase, own the means of production— instead, they create the means of connection. Successful platforms facilitate exchanges by reducing transaction costs and/or by enabling externalized innovation. With the advent of connected technology, these ecosystems enable platforms to scale in ways that traditional businesses cannot.

The Congress in Perth has limited time for discussions and debates like in all other previous programmes. One can only discuss so much in the limited time we have available. So we have come up with the idea that we can start discussions on a digital platform from now on until the Congress meets in Perth, June 2018.
This is the first time that digital media is being utilised for the World Zoroastrian Congress in this manner where we are asking anyone who wants to voice their opinions and thoughts about the communities issues. We respect your views and opinions and are sure that you will also do the same for others. Being an educated community we must tolerate and welcome other people's views.
Anyone can put up there ideas and thoughts here as long as the below simple guidelines are followed.
- No vulgar, sexist or racist remarks against anyone
- No promotion of any sort including political parties and candidates
- No remarks that could be deemed derogatory towards other people, cultures or religions etc
There is a panel of moderators worldwide who are the authority to delete any comments or articles that do not meet the guidelines
